In 2003, there was a certain orchard which was affected by the typhoon 'Memi' in the Kangwon Province. The IYF University Students of the Daegu region visited this place. They helped organize the ruins in the orchard by washing apples which were covered with dirt and swept away their despondent hearts. Since 2003, every December, students from the Junnam region have been coming to do volunteer work in helping to harvest tangerines, a job we lacked workers in. There were 130 volunteers in 2003 and 200 volunteers in 2004. This was a great opportunity to do volunteer service for the students nation-wide and also a great chance to experience Korean culture for the students who were studying abroad. The tangerine harvesting volunteer service was covered on news and televised on JIBS News, Jeju MBC News, Jeju KBS News, KCTV News, and published in Jeju Daily News, Hanla Daily News, and Jemin Daily News. The articles remarked, 'the university students rode a boat as a group and came all the way to Jeju to help the farmers who were lacking hands to work'
